This course offers strategies on timber-tax issues that will help landowners reduce their timber income taxes. Current information is provided on changes made by the latest tax acts relating to IRS statutes, regulations and case precedents. Participants will learn how to avoid pitfalls in these tax changes.
Course Format
A combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, and discussions will provide pragmatic guidance on the complex world of taxes.

Forestland managers, consulting foresters, accountants, attorneys, landowners, and other professional managers.
Instructors
Dr. Harry L. Haney, Jr., Adjunct Faculty, Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia. He specializes as a consultant on forest management focusing on income tax, estate planning and financial analysis. He served on the faculty at the Department of Forestry, College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech for over 28 years. He has written technical publications on forestry investment analysis, timber taxation, and forest management.
Dr. Yanshu Li,
Forest Economics & Taxation Outreach Specialist at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia. She focuses on federal and state forest taxation, economic issues related to forest investment and management, forest products market analysis and the economic benefits of forests. Among her several degrees are an M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. in Forest Economics from Auburn University.
